Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals improved to.500 on the 2023 season with a strong road victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Burrow was the most mobile he has looked all season, and the Bengals were able to pick up their third straight win after a disappointing start to the season.
After the game, Burrow addressed reports of a lingering calf injury that he seems to have at least begun to recover from. “It’s feeling really good. It felt pretty much back to normal,” said Burrow, per Jay Morrison of Pro Football Network. “It was nice to get back to moving again, making plays for my team.”
Joe Burrow’s calf injury contributed significantly to the Bengals’ slow start in 2023. Although the former first-round choice has been in every game this season, his mobility has been noticeably hampered by the ailment in recent weeks. Those fears were unfounded on Sunday, as he frequently discovered running holes in the San Francisco defense when the pocket crumbled around him and was able to punish the 49ers.
Burrow concluded the afternoon with 28 of 32 pass attempts completed, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions. The Bengals will try to make it four victories in a row when they hit the field against the Buffalo Bills on November 5. That game, a home game, is scheduled to begin at 8:20 p.m. ET from Cincinnati.
