It wasn’t long ago that the NY Giants made the decision to stop offering Kadarius Toney any further opportunities to establish his value as a player. It appears that Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs could be moving in the same direction right now.
Similar to his time in East Rutherford, Toney has struggled with injuries ever since he was traded to the AFC West team. But in addition to the speedster’s inability to stay on the field, mental errors have persisted. People were incensed when Toney was flagged twice on his first snap in the team’s most recent preseason game. It appears like No. 19 is playing himself off the previous NY first-round selection, since Reid has already lost patience with the former first-round pick.
Kadarius Toney committed 2 penalties on his 1st preseason snap. Toney covered the Irv Smith Jr. (unless Irv lined up improperly) & committed holding penalty while trying to block Khalil Dorsey on the perimeter for Deneric Prince.

Although Toney had a ton of potential when he joined the team, the general consensus among the KC media is that he has been more of a hassle for the organization. Reid originally called him out not too long ago because he has made far too many mistakes and is unable to maintain his health.
It hasn’t helped that his injuries are mounting either. Many KC fans rolled their eyes when Toney was taken off the field earlier this summer due to a leg ailment. When it comes to attempting to make plays, he’s also not really doing much.
Toney ended with just one reception in the preseason game against the Lions in Week 2. The one and only grab was for four yards. He also gained seven yards on a punt return. He is fighting for a spot on the 53-man roster, but it appears that he will be cut sooner rather than later.
Do we think teams will swarm to attempt and strike a deal once he’s free to sign elsewhere? Toney’s tenure with the G-Men could not have ended worse, as his off-field problems garnered greater attention than his dynamic on-field demeanor. He has been in the news a lot lately due to his continuing feud with Big Blue supporters.
We can’t fault Toney for having the longest punt return in Super Bowl history and two Super Bowl rings to his credit. He will, however, be remembered as a first-round flop and among the Giants’ worst-ever draft selections. Dave Gettleman, thank you. Many believed that a new beginning with the Chiefs would help him get his career back on track, but at this point, it’s possible that his NFL career may not continue very long.
