Taylor Swift halted her first London show as she had to call for her from security. The pop star, 34, is in the capital for her string of dates at Wembley Stadium as part of her 21-month long Eras Tour.

Thousands of excited fans have descended on the capital for the first date of her London stint. Taylor will perform three gigs at Wembley Stadium – before returning to the venue in August for a further five dates.

The sold-out shows will be attended by a total of nearly 640,000 people, boosting London’s economy by £300million, it’s reported. However, during the first Wembley show Taylor had to stop performing to address security. In between her hits, the singer geared up for her next track.

She addressed the crowd as she thanked them for coming to the show. Taylor said: “You have sold out three nights at Wembley in June and five more nights in August.

That means I get to play Wembley Stadium eight times this time because of you. It is all because of you.” The pop star added: “I know we have a lot of Londoners here tonight, am I correct?”

She was greeted by a huge cheer then added: “We also have a lot of people from out of town who travelled right?,” as the crowd cheered again. Taylor continued: “This is amazing, this is why we have such an incredible crowd. We have so many different people who have made plans to be with us here tonight.”

However, just as she was about to carry on the performance Taylor called for help from security. She said: “We need some help from just right at the end of the ramp where they are waving.

Just kind of waiting until I can see that’s sorted out. There we go. You guys are the best. They really care about you here at Wembley Stadium.”

She started her UK tour in Edinburgh this month before delighting fans in Liverpool and Cardiff. Many fans got down to Wembley Way early to secure their spot and meet other Swifties. Fans have spent plenty of time carefully crafting their friendship bracelets ahead of each show. Once they arrive at the stadium, they hopefully begin swapping them to create lasting memories.

London has also been getting into the spirit as her hit Shake It Off was played at the traditional Changing of the Guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace to the unexpected delight of Swifties.

A special edition Tube map was created to mark her arrival – with the Central Line renamed Red after the singer’s fourth album, while the Victoria Line became 1989, the Bakerloo Line Evermore and the Northern Line her latest release, The Tortured Poets Department.

The capacity at Wembley is a whopping 90,000 which means it’s one of the biggest venues on the Eras Tour.
