Travis Kelce saved the best for last in 2024 as he had a stellar postseason en route to the Chiefs’ third Super Bowl title under the Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid led regime.
Kelce recently shared his far-out visions for his future with the team and potential later years retirement in an article posted to TheSpun.com. The former Cincinnati Bearcat’s comments came during the release of a list of the team’s best 2024 trade targets to round out the pre-season roster. The Chiefs also re-signed a noteworthy Super Bowl hero.
On Thursday, June 6, Kelce’s stance on a potential retirement sometime in a far flung future was revealed.
Kelce spills the beans on retirement possibilities
Kelce broached the topic of retirement on his popular New Heights podcast after his brother Jason shared his thoughts on his previous retirement from the NFL, and the Philadelphia Eagles.
“I’m still getting used to it,” Jason Kelce said. “It feels weird not going into the building and just the little conversations you have. You’ll realize it, Trav, once it’s gone.”
Travis Kelce responded to his brother’s thoughts by stating that he’s ‘never going to retire’ from playing the sport. He also spoke about Jason Kelce’s emotional retirement speech that went viral on social media and endeared him to a generation of NFL, Eagles, and football fans.
“I’m never doing it, Tavis Kelce said according to Parade Magazine.
“Not after that speech, dude. No, (expletive) that. I don’t want to go through that.”
Chiefs’ tight end room looks strong for 2024
With Kelce planning to stick around for the foreseeable future, the question now is whether or not Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid and Kelce can catch Tom Brady in the ‘most career Super Bowls’ department.
Kelce will have plenty of help in the receivers and tight ends room in 2024. The Chiefs added the fastest man in NFL Combine history, Xavier Worthy, with their first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft at the wide receiver position.
Noah Gray is a solid backup to Kelce at tight end and sleeper pick Jared Wiley was taken in the fourth round of the 2024 Draft out of Texas Christian.
