Rob Gronkowski and Travis Kelce are two of the best tight ends we have seen in the NFL recently, and as a result of their success on the field, they have frequently been compared to each other.
Gronk was a five-time Pro Bowler and four-time first-team All-Pro, while Kelce has racked up nine Pro Bowl selections and four first-team All-Pro honors as well. While Kelce has played longer than Gronkowski, there’s a case that during their primes, Gronk was the more dominant player.
Regardless of your opinion on that debate, these two are frequently pitted against each other. Gronkowski was asked what it would be like if he and Kelce were on the same team.
He made his opinion of the superstar tight end clear as day. “I feel like we kind of counter each other, we are different players.

His aspect of the game, how he can line up anywhere, how he can motion to any point on the field at any given time…Travis is lighter, you can motion him around. We would compliment each other unbelievably.” – Rob Gronkowski, Dudes On Dudes
Gronkowski and Kelce both put up massive numbers throughout their careers, but they did so in different ways.
While Gronk frequently barreled over defenders on his way to big plays, Kelce’s shiftiness with his route running and when he has the ball in his hands makes him incredibly difficult to stop.
Putting them on the same team would be destructive for the rest of the NFL, and Gronkowski believes that their different playstyles would compliment each other on the field. Unfortunately, we won’t ever know how these two would have fared as teammates, as Gronkowski retired for good after the 2021 campaign.
Kelce, meanwhile, is intent on continuing to add to his legacy, with his next chance to do so coming in Week 8 when the Chiefs take on the Las Vegas Raiders.
