Travis Kelce has us doing a double take. On Thursday, the Kansas City Chiefs player swapped his signature short hair for a wavy dark brown mullet (with bangs!)—and he looked truly unrecognizable. But don’t worry, his new look is only temporary.
In a video shared to FX’s Grotesquerie Instagram page, the NFL star, who plays nurse Ed Lachlan on the Ryan Murphy co-created series, had fans mistaking him for country singer Billy Ray Cyrus with business in the front, party in the back hairstyle.
Kelce first appeared in the clip looking like himself, dressed in a long black T-shirt, dark denim, and a gold chain, before the camera cut to his character.

In addition to his mullet, Kelce sported a brown leather jacket layered over a plaid button-down shirt and light-wash jeans. “Nothing is what it seems,” the caption read on the show’s official account—however, a line was scratched through the sentence and a new one followed: “No one is who they seem.”
Naturally, fans were losing it in the comments section over Kelce’s shocking transformation, with one writing what everyone was thinking, “WHAT IN THE BILLY RAY. We want nurse Travis back lol.” Another added, “People predicted a lot of things…But NO ONE predicted Travis with a mullet.”
A third summed it up simply: “I’m so confused y’all.”
While Kelce’s hair might’ve been a nod to Cyrus, his car scene with Niecy Nash-Betts was definitely inspired by his girlfriend, Taylor Swift.
In the scene, Kelce’s character helps Nash-Betts’s Lois Tyron break out of the hospital after she crashes her vehicle while drunk driving, and the two hop into a red convertible and drive off together in a dream-like sequence.
“That’s a little Taylor Swift nod for you there,” Murphy confirmed while speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, referencing the pop star’s 2017 song “Getaway Car.”
