LiqitrainingCharissa Thompson has had enough of fans trying to manufacture drama out of her and Erin Andrews’ Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift matchmaking jokes.
The Fox Sports host, who previously caused a stir by saying that she made up reports when she served as a sideline reporter, has been joking since last October that she and her Fox Sports co-worker are the reason Kelce and Swift are together.
“Taylor, I don’t know what you are doing in your life right now besides rocking the world,” Erin Andrews said during an episode of the Calm Down with Erin and Charissa podcast back on August 3rd.
“Please try our friend Travis,” Erin continued. “He is fantastic! “This is one Taylor, I know we’re not the best of friends. We’re not even friends, but I consider you one. “Take us up on this. Go on a date with this guy.”
“Do it for America,” Andrews begged. “I was just going to say, do it for yourself, do it for us, and do it for the people,” Thompson added. Charissa Thompson would later point that episode out, joking that they are the reason for the couple hooking up, and then repeating the joke several times in the months to follow.
Apparently, that rubbed some Swifties the wrong way and when that happens a relentless onslaught of criticism is sure to follow.
Which, it would appear, has happened to Charissa Thompson because on last week’s episode of her and Andrews’ podcast she brought it up.
“I don’t know why I’m having any sort of effort or energy put toward this,” Thompson said. “Do you guys not understand that we don’t take it seriously about the setting up Taylor and Travis thing, it’s become a running joke, okay?
We never, ever have claimed or declared, yes, we do it tongue-in-cheek because he’s the one that said originally that he owes us big time, it’s now a joke, you guys need to f—— calm down.”
She wasn’t done, adding, “Just like comments, you know what I mean when people are like, ‘Oh, I love that these two are taking credit for setting them up,’ … I’m like, you guys, relax, it has become a joke and by the way, Travis is in on the joke, that’s the whole thing, so, for any of you that are making comments like we are actually taking credit, relax, we aren’t. We are team her, we love him and we’re happy that they’re happy.”
