While Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce are not yet engaged, a Philadelphia jeweler wants to make it easy for them when it comes time to propose. In an interview , jewelry designer Steven Singer explained that he had a “deeply personal” motive for providing the couple a free $1 million custom-made ring.
“My daughter is an avid fan of Taylor Swift, and we admire not only her but also the values she champions”. Singer went on to say, sarcastically, “Perhaps by presenting them with the ring of their dreams, it might make securing concert tickets for her next tour a tad easier.”
Singer, whose showroom is at 739 Walnut St. in Philadelphia, is no stranger to creative promotional stunts. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the jeweler has used the “I hate Steven Singer” tagline on billboards around the country since 2002. The phrase was prompted by client comments after the man’s wife delivered birth nine months after Singer designed a ring for their wedding anniversary.
Singer’s gesture comes after Page Six had revealed that Swift and Kelce intended to take the next step in their romance. Singer told the Inquirer that his daughter helped design the ring, a handcrafted Art Deco style, 7½-carat, emerald-cut natural diamond set in platinum. If Swift and Kelce decide to pay for the ring, Singer told the Inquirer that he intends to give the earnings to a charity of their choosing.
“It’s an open-ended offer,” Singer informed the Inquirer. “Whenever they’re ready, we’re ready.”
