Jason Kelce’s Wife Kylie on How Taylor Swift Brings a ‘Positive and Exciting Light’ to Football

Jason Kelce's Wife Wasn't Happy With Taylor Swift Headline

Kylie Kelce is fine with Taylor Swift attending football games if it means a larger audience becomes interested in the sport. Jason Kelce’s wife, 31, spoke with Glamour about the pop star’s attendance at Kansas City Chiefs games in an interview released on Monday, January 29.

While she was cautious to speak directly about Taylor, 34, who is dating her brother-in-law, Travis Kelce, Kylie noted that many Taylor fans are now interested in football, which is a positive development for the sport. “Because my father only had two daughters, I acted as his stand-in when we watched football. It was always the most enjoyable experience for me to cheer for the Eagles beside him. It was Sunday activity,” Kylie said.

The field hockey coach went on, “So to see that other young girls are getting involved and that they want to sit down and cheer with their dads or that they’re finding their own reason to be interested, it’s only something that can be portrayed in a positive and exciting light.” It’s just another method to encourage ladies to like sports.”

Taylor has been a regular at Chiefs games since she and the team’s tight end announced their relationship in September 2023. Some opponents argue that the NFL draws too much attention to the “Cruel Summer” singer by rotating the cameras to her throughout the game. Meanwhile, others have voiced worry that Taylor is a distraction for Travis, 34.

Taylor addressed the hateful remarks at her TIME Person of the Year interview in December 2023, stating that she had no control over the cameras. “I don’t know how they know what suite I’m in,” she told me. “There’s a camera about a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is or when it will show you in the broadcast, so I’m not sure if I’m being shown 17 times or once. I’m only there to support Travis. I have no idea if I’m being displayed too much and upsetting a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”

Attending the games to support Travis has also given Taylor, who grew up as a casual Philadelphia Eagles fan, a renewed appreciation for football in general. “Football turns out to be awesome,” she said. “I’ve been missing out my whole life.” Meanwhile, Travis recently dismissed the notion that Taylor is a distraction, detailing how they avoid public focus on their relationship.

“As long as we’re happy, we can’t listen to anything that’s outside noise. That’s all that matters,” he explained. “I brought this upon myself, and I do enjoy having fun with it all. The biggest thing is making sure my focus is right here in this building.”
