Regina CarmichaelAfter a mysterious figure appeared at one of Taylor Swift’s Madrid Eras Tour shows in late May, fans are desperately trying to figure out the shadow’s identity — with their trademark sense of humor.
Footage of the shadowy figure went viral after a TikTok user posted a video zooming in on the faceless audience member, who could be seen — by themselves — in an illuminated section at Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu Stadium as Swift performed “Delicate.”
Fans were not only simultaneously perplexed and obsessed with this person, they also immediately theorized just who the puzzling figure could be.
Matty Healy, who briefly dated Swift in May 2023 and is thought to have inspired many of the tracks on her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, proved to be a popular theory — with one TikTok user even quipping that the mysterious figure is “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” (a reference to the TTPD song highly theorized to be about the 1975 frontman.)
Other guesses included Swift’s most long-term ex, Joe Alwyn, and, of course, her current boyfriend, Travis Kelce. (Kelce, for his part, has attended multiple Eras shows all over the world, but has always been spotted in the actual crowd.)
